Director of Data Architecture, Pete Veenstra, has been selected to serve on data management best practices council.
Kansas City, MO. (September 18, 2019) - Pivvot, a leading SaaS provider of location data and analytics solutions, is pleased to announce that its Director of Data Architecture, Pete Veenstra, has been appointed to the Standard Leadership Council as the representative of the Pipeline Open Data Standard (PODS) Association. Veenstra will join oil and gas leaders across the midstream and upstream sectors to promote the adoption of open and freely available data management standards.
“Our involvement in the Standard Leadership Council aligns with our company mission to change the world—one byte-sized chunk of data a time,” says Veenstra. “At Pivvot, we are challenging the status quo with an open-source, cloud-based solution. And, traditional data management practices must be evaluated to ensure scalability with current and future technologies. We have a responsibility to join the discussion regarding industry data standards to ensure we build useful, extensible solutions.”
Veenstra joins the council with significant data architecture and data modeling experience. He offers over 25 years of GIS and data management experience focusing on data integration and emerging technologies. He has participated in several industry committees and was appointed by the Secretary of Transportation to serve on the PHMSA Voluntary Information Sharing Working Group. Additionally, he has served as a Board Member and Technical Advisor for the Pipeline Open Data Standards organization for 15+ years.
At Pivvot, Veenstra leads data collection and amalgamation efforts to add environmental, socio-economic, engineering, and hundreds of other sources to its ever-growing data engine. The data engine is available to clients via Pivvot’s innovative cloud-based mapping and reporting application, Integra Link. Pivvot’s data is used in the analysis of new pipeline routes, maintenance and re-route planning, incident response, and risk mitigation efforts.
